Among other things, I am a senior youth adviser at the ALUUC. I truly adore those little men and women. I learn as much from them as they learn from me, if not more. What an honor.
We were doing check-ins at last Sunday’s evening group. Check-ins are where we talk about what has been going [...]

Back to Benton

Seven of my closest friends and I, and five of their children, went camping over the last weekend. We camped at the KOA Kampground in Benton, IL, where my kids and I stayed during the first week in July, and we visited the Garden of the Gods. Even though it rained 85% of the time [...]
The Hidden Premise

I firmly believe that we learn something with every experience that we have. Whether it’s consciously or subconsciously, we learn something with each person we meet, see, hear, talk with, or even pass on the street. In addition, our consciousness (mind, brain, whatever) accepts and processes information that we are not consciously aware of. At [...]

<rant> I promise that I won’t be posting much over something that I am seriously annoyed about, but I cannot keep my fingers to myself on this one because I am so annoyed.
I am sick and tired of all of the fucking games that people play, especially in the online dating world. I am a [...]

I love being outside. I love camping, and when at home, I like hanging out in my backyard. I am not a fan of the screaming neighbors that obviously know all of the four letter words that I know and some that I don’t (but I do now), but nevertheless, it can be peaceful out [...]
My Life; but a Book?

I had a couple of friends over for a cookout last night. Good food, good drink, and good company and conversation make for a wonderful evening. My next door neighbor stayed drinking beer and talking until about 11pm last night.
I shared some details of my past experiences with him during our conversation. Like many of [...]
An “AH HA!” Moment that I Forgot
Posted in Experiences on July 10, 2008 | 1 Comment »
On the Sunday prior to our camping trip, I gave a presentation/sermon at the ALUUC. The sermon was on my “AH HA!” moments, and there was one super significant moment that I can’t believe I forgot to add.
About five or six years ago, I was really down. Marriage number four was failing completely and it [...]

Well, as a result of my very first camping trip since I was a kid, and the first of my life to last 5 full days, I have confirmed what I want to do with the rest of my life: be a full-time RVer and travel. This has been a dream of mine for at [...]

It be storming and I forgot the seam sealer, if that gives you any indication as to what is happening right now at 12:25am. Back to work.
Morning: We survived the night, even though it poured down rain for most of it. Since we forgot to use the seam sealer, we had a few leaks, but [...]

Today is a relaxation day. We did laundry, and we played some pool. We then ate lunch and took a good nap. We are currently building the fire for dinner.
This post though is mainly for items that we never thought of, but need to purchase and make sure to bring the next time.
1. Pudgy pie [...]
